Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Sandblaster and Painter. Experience is preferred but we will train the right person. The varying projects will keep you from getting bored! This is a full‑time Anchorage‑based position with no travel, and room for growth.
Job Duties- Operate and use all body shop equipment properly and safely.
- Remove rust from metal, and grease and dirt from work surface.
- Mask and protect parts that are not to be painted or coated.
- Fill cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface.
- Mix paint according to specifications.
- Select and mix coating liquid to produce the desired color.
- Paint surface using sprayer or brush as appropriate.
- Inspect painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, or unpainted areas.
- Heat and spray wax onto products after they are tested.
- Maintain tools and keep equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
- Keep work area clean.
- Wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, as recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Report any deviations to management.
- Cooperate and assist other personnel in the repair and prep of vehicles.
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right‑to‑Know).
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance; be on time and ready to work with proper PPE.
- Operate high‑pressure hoses to blast away layers of paint from surfaces.
- Inspect blasting operations to ensure safety regulations are met.
- Maintain and clean tools and equipment to ensure the best operation of all machines and tools.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Proven experience as a Parts counter person.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and good communication skills.
- Ability to independently research issues, make decisions, and solve problems.
- Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use personal protective equipment.
- Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
- Pay starting at $25 DOE.
- Full‑time, year‑round permanent position.
- Anchorage position with no travel.
- Weekends off; 7 am – 5 pm Monday to Friday schedule.
- Traditional medical and dental insurance coverage for $20 per month for single employee.
