Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN in Alaska, requiring an AK RN license and strong cultural sensitivity.

• Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital
• Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4
• Patient population includes complex cases with significant social histories and domestic violence
• Shift is 4x12 hours, day shift
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating required
• EMR:
  Cerner, experience preferred
• Unit requires strong cultural sensitivity to the Alaska Native population
• Daily responsibilities include caring for patients with complex medical and social needs
• Must be able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity with the Alaska Native population
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Holiday coverage is required with the possibility of working up to 3 out of 4 major holidays
• Maximum of one week RTO allowed, but must be made up at the end of contract
• Free parking in the hospital parking structure

• Active AK RN license required prior to start (compact accepted for consideration, but AK license required to begin)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER RN experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Not open to local candidates living within 100 miles
• Navy scrubs required
