As the Nursing Director of the Critical Care you will be responsible for the daily operation of the unit. You will demonstrate clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care within critical care. You will have the ability to identify resources needed and be responsible for staffing, hiring and budget management on the unit.

We are looking for someone that is passionate and takes great pride in guiding the care of our patients like they are family.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise performance improvement within the department and function with initiative and independent judgement.
  • Retain and recruit sufficient and qualified staff for effective operations.
  • Ensure staff is educated on established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated negative outcome in the patient’s care.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of staff performance.
  • Plan and implement training and development accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, healthy work environment, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and communicate a shared vision for department(s) consistent with the hospital vision.
  • Deal with staff performance deficiencies in a constructive and timely manner.
  • Recognize staff members who exhibit exemplary performance.
Qualifications
  • Current Alaska RN license in good standing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in an acute care nursing required; 10 years preferred in all aspects of critical care clinical experience.
  • Previous manager or director experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification required.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification required.
  • CCRN preferred.
