American Traveler is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for a PICU position requiring AK RN licensure, PALS certification, and prior pediatric critical care experience.

• Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of an acute care Magnet hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• PICU ratio is 1:2, with ventilated patients typically 1:1 due to unit layout
• Pediatric floor ratio is 1:4
• Supported by CNAs and a med clerk, with charge nurse typically not assigned patients
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to NICU and Peds as needed
• Block scheduling accommodated
• Cerner charting system used, with EPIC experience preferred

• Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted at submission with proof of AK license application in progress
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU experience required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• NRP certification copy required with submission for all PICU, PEDS, and RRT candidates
• Experience with ventilator management, airway care, and ABG interpretation required
• Experience with central line care, IV therapy, and pediatric medication administration required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients, including ventilated and post-surgical cases
• May be paired with PICU-training orientees as a secondary assignment on occasion
• Must be culturally sensitive when working with the Native population served by the facility
• Navy scrub color required, with scrubs provided for L&D/OR units
• Onsite orientation includes billable training modules (4-5 hours average), completed annually via Health Stream
• COVID vaccination acknowledgment required for consideration
• Local candidates are not accepted; must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
• Previous travelers must have a 2-year gap before returning to this facility
