American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk unit requiring an active AK RN license and AWHONN certifications for a night shift assignment.
Details- High-risk Labor & Delivery unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Unit includes 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
- Average of 7 deliveries daily, with up to 14 patients including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases
- OB Triage averages 4-5 third trimester testing patients daily plus additional triage volume
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- May float to like units within the facility or affiliate hospitals as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR used for charting
- Active AK RN license required in hand for auto offer
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Charge nurse experience preferred or willingness to train as charge
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Experience with high-risk L&D procedures including vaginal delivery, C-section circulating/scrubbing/recovery, and sterile vaginal exams
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Copies of certifications required for consideration
- Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma facility recognized as a top hospital in Alaska
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum nursing care
- Support high-risk pregnancies including pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, PROM, and multiple gestations
- Perform fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Assist with neonatal care in delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
- Provide newborn assessments, discharge teaching, and postpartum care including lactation support
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Free parking available
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
- Travelers limited to a maximum of 1 year in assignment at this facility, followed by a required 6-month break before returning
- Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- RTO must be submitted and approved individually at time of offer
- Only accepts Hepatitis B vaccination; titers or declinations not accepted
