Position: PARKS CARETAKER I - Regular [HEALTHY SPACES] - Range 7 / L71

Overview

Park & Recreation maintenance to keep municipal park lands safe and usable for the public. The position focuses on homeless camp cleanup under the guidance of Parks Caretaker II, removing trash, debris, and waste to restore facilities to usable conditions. Other duties include general grounds and facility cleaning and repair, litter collection, snow and ice removal, and ice maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Routine park maintenance under general supervision.
  • Clean up illegal camps and store personal belongings as needed.
  • Remove trash, debris, and waste and dispose of removed articles safely.
  • Perform litter collection, snow and ice removal, ice maintenance, and general grounds and facility cleaning and repair.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in lawn, landscape, trails, construction, grounds, or facility maintenance.
  • Valid State of Alaska driver’s license with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and perform physically demanding tasks.
