Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in crawlspaces, basements, and confined areas
  • Reliable transportation to and from work during training period (if no vehicle assigned)
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset
  • Willingness to get dirty, learn quickly, and follow direction
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
What This Role Entails

The Maintenance Plumber/Drain Tech position is a mid-level position designed for individuals with two to three years of experience in the industry. Technicians will develop top level technical, customer service, and communication skills. This position is a launchpad into a high-demand field and is ideal for someone eager to work with their hands, solve problems, and grow a meaningful career.

Reports To
  • Drain Services Manager
  • Field Supervisor (as assigned during training rotation)
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist in clearing, cleaning, and diagnosing residential drain lines, including sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, and floor drains.
  • Perform routine plumbing maintenance, service, and repairs.
  • Support and eventually operate drain cleaning equipment including hand augers, medium machines, jetters, and cameras (under supervision).
  • Follow safety procedures at all times, including proper PPE use and equipment handling.
  • Accurately complete forms, job notes, and customer-facing documentation using Service Titan and other software platforms.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and organization (assigned vehicle or team vehicle).
  • Attend and participate in all assigned trainings, meetings, and performance reviews.
  • Follow and internalize the Nexstar Service System, focusing on the steps of Prepare, Greet, Evaluate, Present, Execute, and Wrap Up.
  • Maintain clear communication with dispatch, leadership, and team members.
  • Uphold Drain Masters' core values in all interactions—with customers, teammates, and the public.
Training & Performance Tracking
  • Participate in a structured 90-day onboarding program including hands‑on field work, classroom‑style learning, and Nexstar/Service Titan onboarding.
  • Progress will be tracked through:
    • Completion of skill checklists
    • Soft skill observation
    • Customer satisfaction metrics (as applicable)
    • Supervisor and mentor evaluations
  • Eligible for early graduation to performance pay program based on demonstrated competence, consistency, and professionalism.
Technology & Tools
  • Learn and adopt all assigned technology tools, including:
    • Service Titan (dispatching, job records, estimates, documentation)
    • Nexstar Network tools and templates
    • Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Sharepoint.
  • Maintain a willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies and best practices.
Customer Service & Professionalism
  • Represent Drain Masters with courtesy, respect, and professionalism on every job.
  • Demonstrate empathy, clarity, and confidence when communicating with customers.
  • Dress and act in accordance with company standards at all times.
  • Follow all communication guidelines and leave‑behind materials as part of the service process.

Schedule & Work Conditions
  • Full-time: up to 40+ hours/week
  • On‑call or weekend shifts may be required after training
  • Work is performed in residential homes, outside, and in various weather conditions
  • Some training may occur after hours or during early mornings
