Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) is a unique electric generation and distribution cooperative, serving 59 communities across Alaska. Our operation spans 46 small, isolated grids relying on a mix of diesel, wind, and solar generation to power 11,513 meters and maintain 515 miles of distribution line.

As a new Maintenance Tech – Diesel Mechanic at AVEC, you will work hands‑on with diesel‑powered equipment, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to keep the equipment in optimal condition. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities include conducting inspections, servicing equipment, diagnosing issues, and completing repairs efficiently and effectively. You will collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks, adhere to safety protocols, and maintain accurate maintenance records.

This position requires a commitment to working 10‑hour days, 6 days a week.

To excel in this role, you should possess technical proficiency in construction, electrical systems, and maintenance. Experience in diesel generation systems or similar technical fields is essential. You should be able to adapt to changing tasks and environments in remote locations, be self‑motivated, and have a responsible work ethic for field operations.
