Position: Protective Services Specialist 1/2 Anchorage (PCN 063764M)

Protective Services Specialist 1/2 (Anchorage, Alaska)

The Office of Children's Services, Alaska Department of Family and Community Services, is recruiting a full‑time Protective Services Specialist to support child protection services in the Family Services unit and the Investigations & Assessment unit. This role is open to Alaska residents only.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate reports of child abuse and/or neglect; collect and analyze evidence.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans in partnership with families and community partners.
  • Ensure child safety by placing children when necessary and providing in‑home or out‑of‑home services.
  • Write and submit court reports; maintain accurate case files.
  • Collaborate with Tribal/Community partners, provide regular communication with parents/caregivers, and refer families to additional services.
  • Participate in training, training plan completion, and required background screens.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in social or behavioral sciences, child‑centered services, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of child protective or related service experience.
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license.
  • interpersonal, reporting, investigative and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, after hours and weekends, and travel within Anchorage region.
