The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, is looking for an Equipment Operator – Journey 2 to help us keep Alaska moving!

What you will be doing

Under general supervision, professionally operate all heavy equipment associated with the construction and maintenance of the Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Examples of equipment include, but are not limited to, motor graders, loaders, dump trucks, airport snow removal machines, roller compactors, sand spreaders, backhoes, and tractor‑trailer combinations.

The candidate will operate equipment on the airfield and airport property. The incumbent must be able to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner in a dynamic environment that is rapidly changing during snow/ice events. They must also be able to communicate clearly on company and air to ground radios. Daily duties include removing snow from the airfield surfaces, parking lots, roadways, and sidewalks.

Other duties are cleaning of equipment, emergency concrete and asphalt repair, brush and tree removal, and many other labor‑intensive jobs.

As a part of the AFM crew the candidate will operate and maintain these airports and roadways in all conditions. Whether plowing snow in near “white‑out” conditions to prepare the airport for normal aircraft operations; maintaining roadways safely for the traveling public; repairing asphalt on paved surfaces; conducting security inspections on the airport; maintaining airport lighting systems; clearing rights‑of‑way and airport safety areas of vegetation overgrowth;

or training for any emergency that may occur, these are just a few of the situations you can find us in while making the difficult seem routine day after day.

Who we are looking for

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A with N‑Tanker endorsement per 49 CFR 383.
  • Knowledge of DOT&PF and TSA regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on radios.
Special Note
  • This position is also eligible for overtime and shift differential.
  • Successfully complete a background and employment check prior to an offer of employment.
  • Obtain an Airport Security Badge and maintain it for the term of employment.
  • Participation in a pre‑employment drug test and a random drug and alcohol testing program for the term of employment.
