LIGHT Equipment Operator Seasonal - Range​/ENG

Open to the public, International Union of Operating Engineers (Local 302) members, and any current Municipal Employees.

This position is represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 302, and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

This is a Seasonal position, which will last approximately six (6) months from the date of hire.

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

• Internal applicants currently working under the International Union of Operating Engineers (Local 302) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Local union dispatched applicants.
• External applicants and other current Municipal employees not covered under this agreement.

Under general supervision, operates various types of light equipment and performs manual labor to accomplish street maintenance activities including but not limited to: patching potholes, replace/repair sidewalks, cut brush and snow removal from trails and sidewalks. Assist in equipment maintenance including oiling, greasing and changing wear surfaces on various types of equipment.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in the operation of light equipment.

All applicants must possess and/or obtain:

• A valid State of Alaska Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at time of hire.
  
  Satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
• Satisfactory drug screening at time of hire.
• Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant's Alaska Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDLB) or higher, with Tank endorsement, and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states, if the Alaska Driver's License was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.

As a condition of employment, the person selected will be required to successfully complete a drug screening prior to beginning work and will be subject to future periodic drug and alcohol tests on a random basis without advance notice.
