Sustainable Resource Management – Plant Laborer

We are currently seeking a Plant Laborer to perform cleaning functions and operate and maintain mobile equipment. Duties include sweeping, shoveling, painting, housekeeping, and minor equipment repairs, as well as completing inspections, maintaining records, and handling various tools and vehicles.

Essential Functions
  • Operate skid‑steer loaders for material cleanup.
  • Work around machinery and mobile equipment.
  • Use hand tools and wheelbarrows to clean materials around conveyors.
  • Assist with fire and hole watches of confined spaces as needed.
  • Receive materials in the drop‑off yard and scale trucks, entering information into computer systems.
  • Operate front‑end loaders to fill bins and load ash trailers.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain company and environmental compliance, health, and safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Complete required Environmental Management System and Compliance Training.
  • Use small hand tools and load ash and metal trucks.
  • Follow standard safety procedures and report hazards immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Complete company and plant training programs within the prescribed timeframe.
  • Work overtime and/or rotating shifts as required.
  • Shovel loose materials into machine hoppers or vehicles and containers (wheelbarrows, scrap trucks, barrels).
  • Anticipate typical problems, identify recurring issues, troubleshoot equipment, and assist in diagnosing problem areas.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Mechanical abilities sufficient for equipment maintenance, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Licenses as required by state, federal, and/or health/safety regulatory agencies.
  • Commitment to a drug‑free work zone.

  • Moving mechanical parts.
  • Wet or humid conditions.
  • Airborne particles.
  • Dust, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Extreme temperatures.
  • Ambient noise.
  • Primary working area outdoors.
Physical Demand
  • Stand, sit for prolonged periods, walk, handle tools, reach with arms, climb heights over 4 ft, stoop, kneel, bend, push, pull, crawl.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
