Travel required to Anderson and Fishers offices.
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for making patients feel comfortable during the visit, directing patients while in the clinic, and performing initial assessment and intake of information including past surgical, medical, family, and social history, taking and recording patient vital signs, and interviewing patient to fully understand the reason for the visit. The role involves delivering patient care, assisting physicians in procedures, maintaining patient records, and supporting clinic operations.
Responsibilities- Prepares patients for examination and treatment; records vital signs and patient history in the electronic health record.
- Updates and maintains patient files, posts test results, formulates and updates patient care plans.
- Assists physicians in minor surgeries, procedures, physicals; obtains specimens; administers injections or tests; applies or removes casts, splints and dressings as needed.
- Explains and demonstrates home physical therapy exercises or rehabilitation techniques to patients.
- Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and maintains supplies and equipment, including sterilization.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and participates in professional development and required meetings.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program (Associate’s degree).
- One to two years of professional experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA or CCMA) in good standing.
- Current BLS certification.
Clinical environment exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other typical clinic hazards. Requires standing for long periods, walking, lifting up to 100 lbs, manual dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Must have normal visual acuity and hearing. Occasionally stressful interactions with staff, physicians, and the public.
