POSITION SUMMARY

Supply Chain Material Handler

The Material Handler is responsible for accurate receipt for trucks or rail, transporting and storing all raw, packaging and finished materials that come into the plant in the designated areas. The Material Handler is also responsible for receiving and shipping inbound and outbound materials into SAP and maintaining the Raw Material Dock Schedule.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Unload Raw Materials according to inbound dock schedule and production schedule
  • Record inbound raw material shipments by using proper tracking procedure
  • Organize and maintain raw material storage plan
  • Communicate with raw material vendors and transport to ensure on time delivery
  • Complete inbound raw material schedule accurately
  • Maintain First In, First Out practices
  • Participate with all planning team functions/debriefs
  • Communicate off‑site warehouse shipments/receipts
  • Sample incoming ingredients as specified.
  • Unload tank trucks or rail in proper areas.
  • Clean and storage of equipment used in unloading process.
  • Recording of load properly and entering into SAP system.
  • Keep work area and truck & rail yard area clean at all times.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Responsible for unloading the incoming bulk ingredients safely, into the proper holding tank.
  • Responsible for handling equipment properly thereby preventing any equipment damage.
  • Adhere to the quality standards outlined in the HACCP plan, QMS and other quality SOPs
  • Perform quality inspections on the product and packaging
  • Perform the sanitation of the equipment and area (includes disassembly and assembly of equipment)
  • Take action and ensure that proper follow‑up has taken place when quality defects occur
  • Participate in review of the preventative maintenance plans
  • Generate work orders in AMM
  • Work with your peers and the team to make recommendations on how to improve the operation
  • Follow‑up on issues to ensure that they are completed and that the issues are addressed
  • Perform daily, routine safety inspection of material handling equipment
  • Work safely and report any unsafe situations
  • Ensure that the inventory is correct through cycle counting and following proper SOPs
  • Load/unload trucks and railcars with the use of a fork lift and/or pallet jack
  • Pick product in less than pallet load quantities from the pick area and take to the order staging area
  • Operate RF computer terminal and bar code scanner
  • Understand and work with company Hold Program to ship only clear and salable product
  • Sort damage out of load
  • Stack/unstack products as needed, lifting products/materials up to 50 lbs.
