Georgia Baptist Mission Board is seeking a dedicated and Spirit‑led pastor to shepherd our congregation in all areas of ministry. We are a close‑knit, multigenerational church family looking for a pastor passionate about preaching the Word and building relationships that point people to Jesus. This role includes preaching, leadership, pastoral care, and oversight of church ministries and outreach. The ideal candidate will have a heart for discipleship, a love for people, and the ability to lead with humility and discernment.
We are looking for someone who can help us grow deeper in our faith and reach our community with the hope of the gospel.
Spiritual Guidelines
- Demonstrates love for all people through ministry in a variety of settings to reach the community.
- Is a servant leader, by example of projects and mentorships that meet the church's needs and provide outreach to the community.
- Intentional in striving to maintain unity within the church.
- Able to show patience, humility and a discerning spirit through interactions with staff, church leadership, church committees and new believers.
- Character that matters.
- Show sound doctrine from a biblical perspective.
- Must be willing to set the example for the church and the community through interactions and ministry with those in need.
Responsibilities
- The church's primary Bible teacher. Is responsible for all congregational and Bible teaching. Also responsible for all staff ministries, such as but not limited to weekly bible studies, children's ministries, youth ministries, and all other functions that proclaim the Gospel, ensuring that those teachings are in accordance with Pleasant View's Mission Statement.
- The pastor is the Spiritual leader of the church.
- Conduct weddings, funerals, Lord's Suppers and baptisms according to the doctrinal commitments of Pleasant View as needed.
- Plan and communicate worship services and special services (such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and special congregational events during the year) to appropriate Church committees so they can be organized and executed effectively.
- Lead and actively participate in community outreach initiatives, equipping and inspiring church members to engage in personal outreach and service opportunities. Provide leadership development and mentorship to strengthen Pleasant View’s mission.
- Serve as personnel overseer of direct Church staff.
- Work with church leadership and staff to develop, resource, and execute a vision for the church, its growth, & community outreach.
- Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with the Church Council to communicate the status of the church's spiritual health. Provide organizational directions for special events or other updates. Allowing the Church Council to support and facilitate communications with the congregation about upcoming events.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled Deacons meetings.
- Provide overall direction and focus of Pleasant View ministry.
- Partner with the Worship Leader to plan and coordinate church worship services.
- Develop relationships and spiritual partnerships with other churches and organizations in our community that are consistent with Pleasant View's mission and values.
- Meet periodically with Church leaders to disciple and train as needed in ministry responsibilities.
- Serve as an ex‑officio member of all church committees and/or teams.
- Ensure ongoing ministry to church members who are homebound, in assisted living, or nursing‑home facilities.
- Work with ministry leaders planning spiritual retreats, youth camps, and summer youth ministries.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
