What You'll Do
As a Director of Environmental Services, you will Plan, organize, and direct Housekeeping/Laundry Services to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable condition in compliance with all regulations and as directed by the Administrator.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate Housekeeping/Laundry programs, services, and departmental activities.
- Maintain written policies, procedures, job descriptions, and performance evaluations in compliance with regulations.
- Assist staff in using departmental policies and equipment effectively; review and recommend updates annually.
- Interpret department policies to employees, residents, visitors, and regulatory agencies.
- Oversee housekeeping and laundry operations, ensuring cleanliness, safety, supply control, and proper use of equipment.
- Coordinate services with other departments and submit reports and recommendations to the Administrator as needed.
- Inspect storage areas, resident rooms, and utility closets regularly for cleanliness, safety, and supply control.
- Complete incident reports within 24 hours and assist Infection Control in identifying job-related risks.
- Participate in facility surveys and develop plans of correction for any deficiencies noted.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of supervisory experience in a hospital or related medical facility preferred.
- Knowledge of housekeeping/laundry practices, regulations, and environmental control procedures.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills; able to plan, implement, and oversee departmental programs and staff.
- Effective communication skills; able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Professional and tactful in interactions with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
- Adaptable, patient, and safety-conscious; able to make independent decisions and apply new methods to improve services.
