If you’re an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Building Control Surveyor currently acting at Area or Senior level, seeking a new role for 2026 this could be just the job for you. The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment is an urgent challenge and an important priority for the service; using your expertise you’ll be expected to make a valuable contribution to this.
Responsibilities- Provide guidance and advice on all building control matters.
- Involved in a wide range of projects including residential, commercial and mixed‑use schemes.
- Deal with dangerous structures and attend other emergency incidents.
- Participate in partnership working agreements and develop effective client relationships.
- Support training and development of employees, provide mentoring support to trainees and assist colleagues, especially at Senior level.
- Promote a good work/life balance, offering flexible working hours and some home‑working opportunities.
- Use remote/mobile working technology to support flexible service delivery.
- Experience as a Building Control Surveyor, currently acting at Area or Senior level.
- Enthusiastic, self‑motivated and able to work independently.
- Strong knowledge of building control legislation and standards.
- Good communication skills and ability to build client relationships.
- Salary range £41,622 – £57,891 per annum (HG 8-10).
