Are you an SEN teacher looking for a long-term position from Easter? Primary and secondary SEN schools and specialist provisions across Andover and the surrounding areas are seeking dedicated and compassionate teachers to join their teams on a long-term basis for upcoming and unadvertised vacancies.

These are fantastic opportunities for teachers who want to become part of a school community, build meaningful relationships, and make a lasting difference in the lives of pupils with additional needs. Schools in the Andover area offer supportive leadership, collaborative staff teams, and well‑resourced environments where both pupils and staff can thrive.

In these SEN settings, you may support pupils who:

  • Have autism spectrum conditions with communication or sensory differences
  • Experience moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD)
  • Have speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN)
  • Have social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), including challenging behaviour
  • Need support with social interaction and understanding social cues
  • Have cognitive delays affecting processing and memory
  • Experience sensory sensitivities and benefit from structured regulation strategies
  • Feel anxious around change, transitions, or unfamiliar situations

Consistency, structure, and a nurturing approach are key to supporting pupils' progress and wellbeing.

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Use visual supports, communication systems, and sensory strategies
  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching approaches accordingly
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
  • Support behaviour positively using consistent and clear strategies
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, reports, and wider school life
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and school policies at all times
  • Start: Easter term (April) or shortly after
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Hours: Full‑time (part‑time may be considered in some settings)
  • Salary: MPS/UPS, with SEN allowance where applicable
  • Benefits: Supportive induction, ongoing CPD, and career progression opportunities
  • Location: Andover and surrounding areas (including Tidworth, Ludgershall, Stockbridge, and Whitchurch)

This role is ideal for:

  • Qualified teachers (QTS/QTLS), including ECTs
  • Teachers with SEN experience (autism, MLD/SLD, complex needs)
  • Mainstream teachers looking to transition into SEN
  • Educators seeking stability and long‑term career development
  • Patient, adaptable, and child‑centred professionals
  • QTS or QTLS
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
  • Right to work in the UK

To apply, please submit your CV. Suitable candidates will be contacted to discuss permanent SEN teaching opportunities available across Andover for the summer term and beyond.
