About the Role

We are seeking dedicated Care Workers to join a specialist residential school in the Andover area that supports children and young people with additional needs. This long‑term role begins in September 2026, with the genuine opportunity to become a permanent member of the team for the right person.

The school supports students with a range of complex needs including autism, communication differences, ADHD, social/emotional needs and mild-to-moderate learning difficulties. Many pupils follow personalised programmes designed to help them develop independence, emotional regulation, communication, and essential life skills.

This role is non‑personal care and focuses on providing consistent daily support, helping young people feel safe, understood, and empowered. You will work within a therapeutic, structured environment that enables students to thrive socially, academically, and emotionally.

You will collaborate closely with teachers, residential/key workers, therapists, and senior staff to deliver high‑quality, student‑centred care throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting young people with additional needs in daily routines and structured learning sessions
  • Encouraging independence, self‑esteem and positive social interaction
  • Building calm, trusting and encouraging relationships with pupils
  • Supporting emotional regulation using therapeutic and school‑approved strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teaching, residential and therapy teams
  • Providing consistent guidance during challenging or emotionally complex situations
  • Helping pupils access learning, enrichment activities, and life skills development programmes
  • Ensuring students feel safe, supported and valued at all times
About the School
  • Support students who may have autism, ADHD, communication needs, social/emotional needs, and mild-to-moderate learning difficulties
  • Provide a therapeutic and structured environment that promotes emotional stability and confidence
  • Offer personalised learning pathways that build independence, life skills, and academic progress
  • Focus on helping students develop communication, resilience, and self‑advocacy
  • Provide a nurturing setting with on‑site therapy and multidisciplinary support
  • Encourage creativity, confidence and preparation for adulthood through tailored programmes
Individual Profile
  • A patient, nurturing and empathetic approach

  • Experience working with additional needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Resilient, adaptable and positive in challenging situations
  • Confident supporting young people with emotional or behavioural needs
  • First Aid trained or willing to train
  • Access to your own car and a clean driving licence is essential due to the rural location
