English Teacher – Secondary School (Andover Area)

Full-time Maternity Cover until March 2027 Salary: £165–£245 per day (experience dependent)

8:00am – 4:00pm | Full-Time About the School We are supporting a forward‑thinking secondary school in the Andover area, known for its inclusive ethos, strong pastoral care, and commitment to helping every student achieve their full potential. About the Role The school is seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join the department for a maternity cover position running until March 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to teach in a supportive environment where English is a valued and well‑resourced subject. The role is suitable for an ECT for English seeking a role in a supportive department and an experienced Teacher of English seeking a longer term contract.
The school will also consider unqualified English Teachers that have experience teaching in Secondary Schools in the UK.
Key Responsibilities Teaching English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
Planning and delivering engaging lessons that inspire a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking
Assessing student progress and providing constructive, timely feedback
Creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports high expectations
Contributing to the wider English department and whole‑school initiatives
Ideal CandidateUK‑qualified teacher with QTS (or working towards it)
Recent experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for high‑quality teaching
Confident classroom practitioner with effective behaviour management
Committed to safeguarding and maintaining high professional standards
