Position: Learning Support Assistant )

Overview

Learning Support Assistant – SEN School, Andover. September start. Academics are recruiting on behalf of a residential SEN school in Andover which caters for young people aged 11-19 years with Autism or who have strong emotional/behavioural traits of the Autistic Spectrum, typically high functioning Autism (Asperger Syndrome) and other associated needs such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and social, emotional and mental health needs.

All young people in the school will have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

They are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join them on a full-time, possible temp to perm supply contract starting in September. Due to the rural location in Grately/Andover, this would be suited to a Learning Support Assistant who drives/has access to own car.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils across the school in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
  • Assist with implementing individualised learning and care plans to ensure access to a challenging, broad, relevant, and differentiated curriculum designed to be Asperger Syndrome friendly.
  • Help build positive relationships with students and support the teacher in meeting individual learning and care needs.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) Grades C or above or Grades 4–9.
  • Experience in an SEN environment is advantageous but not essential; the role requires an understanding, empathetic and calm approach to support students.
  • Full-time availability; driving license/own car preferred due to rural location.
  • Working hours (term-time only):
    Mon and Thu 8:30–16:30;
    Tue and Fri 8:30–16:00;
    Wednesday 8:30–17:00. Salary: £14.24 per hour.
