We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Miller to join a growing precision engineering and advanced manufacturing business.

The business operates with modern CNC machining technology, multi-axis machining centres and advanced inspection systems, supplying precision-engineered components into demanding sectors including automotive, motor sport, defence and medical.
You will work alongside experienced engineers and CNC programmers, with continued investment in technology, continuous improvement and employee development.

The Role:

As a CNC Miller, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling machines, proving out first-off components and special jobs, and contributing to machining strategy development.

You will play an important role in ensuring production runs efficiently, components meet exacting quality standards and production schedules are achieved.
The role would suit a machinist with experience working on high-precision, complex components within a low-volume or batch-production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Set and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision components.

* Prove out first-off components and special machining jobs.

* Work collaboratively with engineers and programmers to develop effective machining strategies.

* Specify and source tooling requirements to support production.

* Manage workload effectively to meet production schedules and business objectives.

* Support estimating activities when required.

* Control and manage customer Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).

* Accurately complete routing sheets, operating tickets and computer-based production records.

* Read and work from engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.

* Carry out self-inspection to ensure components meet required quality standards.

* Ensure production is completed in accordance with relevant documentation and engineering standards.

* Maintain tooling, fixtures, drawings and equipment in an organised and safe condition.

* Report production, quality and technical issues to the appropriate Manager, Quality Engineer or Technical Engineer.

* Support continuous improvement initiatives, including improving quality and reducing scrap.

* Maintain equipment in safe and good working order.

* Work in accordance with company Health & Safety and Quality Management Systems.

* Undertake training and development to continually improve skills and competencies.

About You:

We are looking for a diligent, reliable and technically capable CNC Miller with previous experience in precision manufacturing.
You should be confident setting and operating CNC milling machinery and have a strong understanding of producing complex, high-precision components.
Experience machining gearbox components or similarly complex parts within a low-volume production environment would be particularly beneficial.
You will also need to be comfortable working independently, using your initiative and taking responsibility for the quality of your own work.

Essential Experience & Skills

* Proven experience within CNC machining or precision engineering.

* Strong CNC milling experience, including setting and operating.

* Experience machining high-precision components in a low-volume or batch-production environment.

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

* Experience carrying out self-inspection and maintaining high-quality standards.

* Strong organisational and time-management skills.

* Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.

* Excellent attention to detail.

* Positive and professional approach to work.

Qualifications:

* GCSEs or equivalent preferred.

* Engineering or manufacturing-related qualifications would be advantageous.
