Indoor Family Park Attendant - Andover YMCA

GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Indoor Family Park Attendant will provide a safe and fun-filled experience for all participants who utilize the park and pavilion areas.

• Minimum age of 21
• Relevant experience working with children
• Experience teaching a skills class

• Must be able to routinely perform the following moderate physical activities; climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity
• Must possess and demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment; and the desire to work with all ages, especially children
• Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
• Must demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment and the desire to work with all ages, especially youth
• Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision
• Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
• Must work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by assigned goals, duties and deadlines
• Must present a neat and professional appearance at all times

• Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
• Complete CPR/AED and First Aid in accordance with Conditions of Employment
• Learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch as necessary
• Understand and abide-by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association
• Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch; including weekends and evenings

• Building effective, authentic relationships with children, parents, volunteers and staff; greeting and becoming familiar with members and their children by name.
• Supervising and assisting all park and pavilion activities; ensuring participants are relating to each other, members, the equipment and facility in a positive manner.
• Positioning self for optimal interaction and supervision of area; initiating age-appropriate games and activities and actively engaging while maintaining control of area.
• Providing clear and consistent expectations for behavior; setting firm limits with positive phrasing and actions when necessary; supporting and demonstrating discipline practices in accordance with YMCA policies and informing supervisor of any concerns or situations.
• Responsible for the safety and well‑being of attendees by following and enforcing all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
• Being knowledgeable and prepared to implement emergency procedures.
• Reporting all incidents/accidents on the appropriate form as required and provide to supervisor within 24 hours of event.
• Submitting completed records on time (i.e. attendance, behavior issues).
• Completing cleaning duties and additional as deemed necessary and reporting any facility or equipment irregularities, unsafe conditions, or feedback to supervisor verbally and in writing.
• Attending all required training and scheduled meetings.
• Maintaining prompt hours and following established procedures for absences.
• Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising efforts.
• All other duties as assigned.
