Accounting Manager
This position sits within the Fractional CFO / Outsourced Accounting Practice, working directly with the shareholder. You will lead several outsourced CFO engagements (for both nonprofit and for-profit clients), manage day-to-day accounting operations, mentor junior staff, and serve as a strategic partner for clients.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee a portfolio of outsourced CFO clients
- Own daily accounting operations: A/P, A/R, billing, month-end & year-end close
- Mentor and develop associates
- Prepare and review Balance Sheet, P&L, and General Ledger
- Oversee monthly reconciliations, closings, adjusting JEs, payroll JEs, and client financial reporting
- Liaise with outside CPA firms for tax and assurance
- Ensure timely 1099 compliance
- Identify and resolve complex accounting issues
- Conduct research on technical matters with minimal supervision
- Apply new accounting standards across engagements
Heavy use of Quick Books Online Desktop - Maintain proactive communication and ensure client satisfaction
- Participate in community networking and business development
- Maintain high integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
- 6–10 years of full-charge accounting or public accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Significant Quick Books experience (Online Desktop)
- Strong GL, reconciliation, and financial reporting skills
- Prior staff leadership/management required
- CPA preferred (not required)
- Ability to work onsite in Lawrence, MA
- Desire to grow long-term within the firm
