The NWDTP Instructor is a position within the security and protective service field of work.

The NWDTP Instructor is responsible for possessing and providing appropriate certifications and training for staff on X-Ray NWDTP curriculum. Responsible for delivery of services as described in the applicable Statement of Work (SOW) or Performance Work Statement (PWS).

Please note this is a part-time position. The pay range for this position is $40-$55/hour.

This position will be posted for 5 days or until filled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete and/or maintain an approved and accredited Principles of Instruction course or similar training (NRA, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC, or military training course) certifying the individual as an instructor showing competency in the performance areas of:
    • Presentation skills
    • Student-centered learning
    • Performance Objective Development
    • Testing and assessment
    • Training tools and technology
    • Lesson plan development
    • Presentation graphics
    • Instructional methodologies
    • Evaluating laboratories and practical exercises
  • Complete and/or maintain an approved course of study as an Instructor for expandable baton, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray, defensive tactics, and handcuffing training certifying the individual as an instructor showing competency in the performance areas of:
    • Baton employment philosophy
    • Baton Nomenclature
    • Baton Chart and Zone Defense
    • Baton Grips, Carries, Draws, Blocks and Strikes
    • Baton Retention
    • Characteristics and Delivery
    • Methods of Carry, Drawing, and Spraying Techniques
    • Effects and After Effects
    • Medical issues and legal liability
    • Proper deployment techniques
    • Decontamination
    • Reporting requirements
    • Proper storage, transportation, and shelf life
    • Basic Tactics
    • Use of Force
    • Officer Safety & Survival
    • Baton Control Techniques
    • Areas of Arrest
    • Control Tactics and Techniques
    • Injury Prevention
    • Proper use of Handcuffing
    • Non-Lethal Training Techniques
  • Complete and/or maintain an approved and accredited Firearms Instructor (Range Official) course certifying the individual as an instructor showing competency in the performance areas of:
    • Methods of instruction, communication, and training aids
    • Preparation and construction of lesson plans
    • Classroom and range management
    • Handgun nomenclature
    • Handgun marksmanship
    • Handgun handling techniques
    • Firearms safety and range organization
    • Tactical use of cover and concealment
    • Equipment and ammunition
    • Clearing and cleaning procedures
  • Complete and/or maintain an approved certification to perform first aid, CPR, and AED instruction certifying the individual as an instructor showing competency in the performance of appropriate areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by management and/or supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience in civilian community law enforcement, or military service law enforcement, or commercial/industrial security force service
  • Must have Training certifications for each of the following areas:
    First Aid, CPR, AED, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Baton, OC Spray, and Firearms instruction.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a Federal background check
  • Ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
