The BRIDGE program is a specialized, intensive program based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis that serves students on the Autism Spectrum. The program includes a special education teacher, instructional assistants, and consultation from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Speech and Language Pathologist, and Occupational Therapist. Services provided to students include discrete trial training, supported inclusion, small group activities, and incidental teaching.
The goal is to help students increase their independent skills across various areas such as academics, recreation, social skills, communication, self-care, motor skills, behavior regulation, and generalization of these skills to new environments.
Monitor and assist students as needed in their daily routines across classroom activities and settings.Assist in collecting data for behavioral or academic progress.Implement behavioral interventions as directed by the classroom teacher.Participate in staff meetings regarding curriculum and student needs across developmental areas.Lead or facilitate teaching in 1:1, small group, or whole class settings.Assist students in following routines, directions, schedules, and completing tasks.Monitor students during all times, including on/off the bus, lunch, and transitions.Support students with self-help skills such as safety, eating, and toileting.Create instructional materials as directed by the teacher.Prepare the classroom daily for instruction as needed.Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.Minimum requirements include:
At least two years of college or equivalent experience working with children.Preferred knowledge or experience working with students on the autism spectrum.Preferred knowledge or experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).Andover Public Schools values a diverse faculty and staff, promoting high expectations, collaboration, innovation, respect, and responsibility.
