Position: Middle School And Elementary Band Permanent Substitute Teacher ( Feb- June, 2026)

Overview

Andover Public Schools has a strong commitment to music education and is looking for a dedicated, compassionate musician/educator to lead and support our band program.

Responsibilities

Instruct instrumental lessons/ensembles at Andover Elementary Schools and all Andover’s three middle schools.

Work with other music teachers to coordinate curriculum, events and concerts.

Conduct ensembles for performances, in and out of the school day, throughout the school year.

Instruct additional general music classes as needed.

Position requires transportation between buildings during the school day.

All other required duties as requested.

Qualifications

Massachusetts certification, Music (General, Instrumental, Choral) K-12.

Training and/ or academic course work in instrumental music education.

Previous elementary and middle school teaching preferred.

Functional proficiency on all concert band instruments.

Highly proficient on at least one wind or brass instrument.

Positive, energetic, and flexible approach to a process-based and inclusive style of instruction/rehearsal.

Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
