Position: Middle School And Elementary Band Permanent Substitute Teacher ( Feb- June, 2026)

Overview

Andover Public Schools has a strong commitment to music education and is looking for a dedicated, compassionate musician/educator to lead and support our band program.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct instrumental lessons/ensembles at Andover Elementary Schools and all Andover’s three middle schools.
  • Work with other music teachers to coordinate curriculum, events and concerts.
  • Conduct ensembles for performances, in and out of the school day, throughout the school year.
  • Instruct additional general music classes as needed.
  • Position requires transportation between buildings during the school day.
  • All other required duties as requested.
  • Qualifications
  • Massachusetts certification, Music (General, Instrumental, Choral) K-12.
  • Training and/ or academic course work in instrumental music education.
  • Previous elementary and middle school teaching preferred.
  • Functional proficiency on all concert band instruments.
  • Highly proficient on at least one wind or brass instrument.
  • Positive, energetic, and flexible approach to a process-based and inclusive style of instruction/rehearsal.
  • Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
