About the ProgramPhillips Academy offers a summer program for rising 7th through 12th grade students from June 23 to August 4, 2026. The program includes:
- The flagship Summer Session – a five‑week residential program with courses ranging from computer science to marine biology, ethics, philosophy, and economics.
- Mathematics & Science for Minority Students (MS2) – a STEM scholarship program offering rigorous curriculum and leadership development.
- PALS – partnership with Lawrence Schools that brings motivated middle‑school students to a tuition‑free humanities and STEM enrichment program.
Teaching Assistants are typically rising college seniors or recent graduates.
Responsibilities include:
- Pairing with an experienced mentor to execute the syllabus, support classroom instruction, and plan/lead at least one complete lesson.
- Serving as House Counselors in student dormitories, creating a safe environment, and coordinating dorm duties, meetings, events, and family communication.
- Coaching an afternoon activity, chaperoning on‑campus and off‑campus events, and attending all school, program, and TA meetings.
- Working an average of 35‑40 hours per week: up to 3 hours of class, ~1 hour of coaching, ~2.5 hours of evening study or supervision, plus meetings and trips.
Salary range: $3,850 – $4,800, with potential adjustments based on program demands and experience.
