DescriptionSeeking a Senior Layout Designer responsible for the layout of RF and mixed signal integrated circuit components from schematics, diagrams or netlists utilizing commercial/standard bulk CMOS and SOI technologies in accordance with design rule. Possess an understanding of power/GND/ESD/analog placement and routing considerations. The Senior Principal Layout Designer will be responsible for taking the physical design from schematic through physical verification and tape‑out in a timely manner with minimal assistance.
Exposure to RF circuit and transmission line layouts is a plus.
As a skilled specialist in IC layout, the candidate must have the ability to complete tasks in creative and effective ways, and work on assignments requiring considerable judgement and initiative. The candidate shall also understand implications of the work and be able to make recommendations for solutions, methodologies, and procedures.
This position can be based out of one of the following locations:
Woburn or Andover, MA;
Irvine, CA;
Ottawa, Canada; or Greensboro, NC.
- Layout of RF and mixed-signal IC components from schematics, diagrams or netlists utilizing SOI, CMOS, RF CMOS and GaAs technologies in accordance with design rules.
- Directly interface with IC design engineers to produce and optimize layouts for size and performance.
- Establish and meet project objectives and milestones.
- BS Degree in CAD or related technical discipline OR 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in CAD tools, specifically Cadence Virtuoso 6.1.8, Cadence Virtuoso
XL, Assura & Calibre Verification tools including DRC, LVS, and ERC. - Strong customer service and detail-oriented skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor manufacturing.
- Ability to coordinate and resolve issues with engineering groups.
- Ability to work within schedule constraints and maintain high quality standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with multiple groups.
- Proficiency in Custom Analog, RF & Digital layout skills at the cell, block and chip level.
- Solid knowledge of device matching issues and good analog/RF layout techniques.
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $114,400 - $220,200 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
