Material Scientist – Polymer Adhesives & Advanced Compounds
The Judge Group is seeking a highly motivated Material Scientist to lead the development of next‑generation polymer adhesives and thermosetting compounds for advanced power‑conversion packaging. This is a hands‑on, lab‑focused role with significant ownership over material innovation, process development, and scale‑up to production.
You will drive the creation of cutting‑edge materials that enable high‑performance 5G‑based power‑conversion technologies, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and external research partners.
Responsibilities- Lead formulation and compounding of new polymer materials for advanced power‑conversion packaging (epoxies, polyurethanes, highly filled systems).
- Develop robust thermosetting materials optimized for next‑generation 5G‑driven products.
- Own the full material lifecycle, from raw‑material procurement and incoming inspection to final QC and packaging.
- Scale materials from benchtop to production, ensuring repeatability, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with external partners (universities, suppliers, research groups) to expand technical capabilities.
- Execute hands‑on polymer processing, including mixing, curing, testing, and characterization.
- Analyze and summarize data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to cross‑functional teams and senior leadership.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and quality‑control documentation to support consistent production and regulatory compliance.
- MS or PhD in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 5–7+ years of industry experience, including at least 4 years formulating thermosetting polymers and adhesives.
- Strong experience with highly filled systems and performance‑driven formulation.
- Proficiency with TGA, TMA, DSC, FTIR, and other analytical techniques used for thermoset characterization.
- Demonstrated ability to design experiments, interpret results, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Experience preparing SOPs, QC documentation, and maintaining organized technical records.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional, fast‑paced environments.
- Strong presentation skills and comfort presenting to senior leadership.
- Proven ability to drive projects independently with minimal oversight.
- Experience working with toll manufacturers or external production partners.
- Background in power‑electronics packaging, advanced materials for electronics, or high‑performance adhesives.
