The Behavioral Health Technician plays a vital role in delivering high-quality behavioral health services within PHP and IOP settings, working closely with adolescents under supervision of licensed professionals.
Responsibilities include
- Facilitating psycho educational and skills-based groups on topics like depression, anxiety, emotional regulation, and social skills, using engaging methods such as activities and role-plays.
- Supporting a therapeutic milieu by maintaining a safe, structured environment, supervising clients during transitions, and modeling healthy communication and boundaries.
- Building supportive relationships, encouraging participation, and helping clients practice coping strategies while respecting professional boundaries.
- Observing, documenting, and communicating client behaviors and responses to the treatment team, ensuring confidentiality and proper clinical documentation.
- Assisting with crisis intervention, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting de-escalation as needed, without making clinical assessments outside scope.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams through effective communication, participating in meetings, and supporting a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, prior experience in behavioral health with adolescents, strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. Preference for experience with structured programming and evidence-based practices is noted.
