Summary

As the world’s largest provider of thermal processing services, Bodycote employs thousands of highly skilled staff around the globe. This role performs controlled process steps for the assembly and filling of customer products and capsules, ensuring customer specifications are met by following job orders, routing cards, drawings, and work instructions.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
  • Operate drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes, rollers, hydraulic shears, air tools, and a variety of machine shop equipment and hand tools.
  • Responsible for all equipment, supplies, and inventories associated with the department and machine shop.
  • Maintain daily communication with management to review priorities set forth within the department.
  • Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping.
  • Estimate material and labor and recommend supplies and materials to be ordered.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • Follow established work procedures and control measures (including use of PPE where issued) and any applicable SHE rules.
  • Suggest and support areas for improvement to manager.
  • Support coworkers, contractors, and visitors to achieve a healthy and safe workplace and care for the environment.
  • Perform duties to protect and care for customers’ inventory, preventing loss or damage.
  • Report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Qualifications
  • Position must satisfy ITAR compliance; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a machine shop and understanding of basic math skills.
  • Specialized knowledge of operating drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes, rollers, hydraulic shears, air tools, and hand tools.
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
  • Demonstrate ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Physical & Mental Demands
  • Work in a standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
  • Manual dexterity required for data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach for tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Regular exposure to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
  • Cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, screens, and files.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
  • Use of power tools and equipment (plasma cutter, torch, grinder, air tools, crimping guns, etc.).
