Position: Research Associate

Our client is seeking a Research Associate to join their Cryo-Electron Microscopy (CryoEM) team. This position plays a key role in generating high-quality protein structural datasets to support drug discovery efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in protein biochemistry and an eagerness to apply their skills within a state-of-the-art structural biology environment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research while gaining hands‑on experience with advanced CryoEM instrumentation and workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to)- Perform protein purification, complexation, vitrification, and clipping to ensure consistent, high‑quality sample preparation for CryoEM.
- Load and operate CryoEM microscopes, executing automated data collection and ensuring data quality.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary research teams to support high-throughput structure determination.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in refining and optimizing workflows.
- Accurately document experimental procedures and results in internal databases and reports.
- Master's degree in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or a related field with 0-2 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Proficiency in standard wet‑lab techniques including pipetting, buffer preparation, and protein purification.
- Solid understanding of protein chemistry fundamentals such as molarity, protein concentration, and buffer formulation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot experimental and technical challenges.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a fast‑paced, collaborative research environment.
- Familiarity with structural biology methods and CryoEM sample preparation workflows is a plus.
- Experience with liquid handling systems (i.e., Tecan, Hamilton) is preferred.
- Prior exposure to CryoEM data collection or microscope operation, particularly using Serial
EM is highly preferred.
