Bakery Team Member (Service Counter) - Part Time

Join as a Bakery Team Member at Whole Foods Market. You will provide courteous, friendly service to customers, help keep the bakery area clean and well-stocked, and support store operations.

$16.00/hr – $25.40/hr

• Keep cases, shelves, and display areas clean and fully stocked, checking codes and removing out‑of‑date products.
• Stock and clean bins, shelves, and display areas.
• Monitor and prevent spoilage and communicate waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisors.
• Maintain back stock in good order.
• Assist with the sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing.
• Assist with periodic inventory checks.
• Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, and dressed; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer needs in a timely and effective manner and modeling suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
• Maximize sales potential through effective preparation and proper merchandising of product.
• Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

• Ability to sell proactively.
• Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in department.
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
• Proactively read labels and familiarize oneself on various products.
• Assist with periodic inventory checks.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectful manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members.
• Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.

• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a sense of urgency.
• Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.

• No prior retail experience required.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Standing/walking 6‑8 hours in an 8‑hour work day.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
• Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
• Exposure to temperatures: 90°F.
• Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Use of tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
• May require use of ladders.
