The Andover YMCA is seeking Assistant Ninja Coaches to help launch Ninja Zone at the Y! The role requires experience or interest in working with kids and fitness, upbeat energy, and availability evenings/weekends. Candidates must be 16+.

Job SummaryThe Assistant Ninja Coach works with children to help them reach their potential through Ninja Zone sport by providing high‑quality instruction and guidance. Duties include teaching safe and fun classes, building community, and modifying classes to meet varied health, ability, and cultural needs.
Essential Functions- Assist in instructing and leading high‑energy, movement‑based Ninja Zone classes according to the curriculum.
- Review lesson plans, know instructional materials, and set up the space with appropriate equipment.
- Create a fun and safe environment for youth to explore, move, and grow.
- Provide feedback to youth through instruction.
- Understand participants’ needs and goals and provide a positive, enjoyable environment.
- Respond to and report any accidents or incidents.
This position reports to the Health and Wellness Director, who reports to Branch Management. Work closely with other YMCA Team Members and program participants.
Qualifications- Required
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Complete formal Ninja Zone training upon hire.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certified, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Demonstrated customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to respond calmly to safety and emergency situations.
- Ability to set up, move, and store class equipment.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in improving youth health, fitness, and futures.
- Preferred
- Experience working with children, fitness, or youth sports.
- Bi/multilingual.
- Ability to stand on feet majority of the work shift.
- Stretch, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs and move equipment on a regular basis.
- Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency.
