Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with two (2) years related experience of written translation experience. Must speak, read, and write English and target language fluently. Ability to translate accurately written materials between English and the target language(s). Possess Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) from NBCMI or CCHI or obtain certification within 2 years from hire date.
Job Description:To provide language assistance by means of verbal interpretations and translations of materials for all medical communications between UTMB's staff and patients, patients' families, and visitors.

Job Duties- Provides skilled verbal interpretation services in person and over the phone.
- Understands and uses medical terminology correctly in English and the target language(s), and uses medical dictionaries effectively.
- Executes dispatching duties as assigned and schedules appointments for services.
- Acts as liaison between staff and patient/visitors to meet their needs.
- Supports cross-cultural communication throughout the institution by sharing cultural factors influencing health behaviors.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new Language assistance bilingual staff.
- Develops and maintains records and produces reports by means of database.
- Serves as a backup to a supervisor.
- Follows institutional and departmental policies and procedures in all situations.
- Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
- Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
Salary commensurate with experience
Location:ADC campus but will (possibly) support other locations as needed (CLC and LCC).
