Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with two (2) years related experience in written translation.
- Fluent in English and the target language(s); must speak, read, and write both languages.
- Ability to translate accurately written materials between English and target language(s).
- Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) from NBCMI or CCHI, or obtain certification within 2 years from hire date.
- Experience conducting training courses preferred.
- Formal training, including completion of a medical interpreter course and industry certification (CCHI/NBCMI) preferred.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled verbal interpretation services in person and over the phone.
- Understand and use medical terminology correctly in English and target language(s); use medical dictionaries effectively.
- Execute dispatching duties as assigned and schedule appointments for services.
- Act as liaison between staff and patients/visitors to meet their needs.
- Support cross‑cultural communication by sharing cultural factors influencing health behaviors.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new bilingual language‑assistance staff.
- Develop and maintain records and produce reports using database tools.
- Serve as a backup to a supervisor.
- Follow institutional and departmental policies and procedures in all situations.
- Identify appropriate internal controls for the department; provide mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
- Adhere to internal controls established for the department.
- Perform related duties as required.
Salary:
Salary commensurate with experience.
Location:
ADC campus; may support other locations (CLC and LCC) as needed.
