About This Job

We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join our growing Integrated Cryogenic Solutions (ICS) team in Escondido, CA. This role is in‑office, five days per week.

Summary / Objective Job Overview

The Application Engineering role will be responsible for generating technical proposals and managing in‑house sales support for the growing fueling and solutions market in North America. This role requires a strong technical background to develop tailor‑made solutions using the PCS standard.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

• Work with departments to ensure proposals submitted meet Solutions requirements for delivery, documentation, testing and technical requirements.
• Work with sales personnel to ensure customers are provided with the required information.
• Communicate with customers to answer technical questions and respond to bid clarifications.
• Ensure on‑time performance of submission of proposals.
• Provide support for marketing activities.
• Perform quoting work as required.
• Travel internationally and domestically to support customer meetings as required.

Knowledge and Critical Skills / Expertise

• English language proficiency is required.
• Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software;
  Sales Force preferred.
• Advanced MS Office Suite.
• Ability to review proposals for compliance with technical specifications and pricing accuracy for engineered‑to‑order products.
• Skill in time management, prioritizing and managing changing priorities.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
• 3 years in application or sales engineering, preferably in a plant manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Autodesk, Solid Works or similar software is preferred.
• Specific industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Position may require up to 10% travel.

Qualifications, Work, Environmental and Physical Demands

Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates, including weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays.

Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to a client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. A valid driver’s license and a passport may be required.

Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs may be required.

Environmental Safety Requirements

New Employee Safety Training is required, including Safety Awareness. All safety related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Technician.

Job‑specific training modules deemed necessary by employee’s Manager or Director will be required on an ongoing basis.

Employees must wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed (safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut‑resistant gloves, hearing protection, hard hats & dust masks). Failure to comply with Nikkiso Cryo safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.
