Job Description

The Operations Manager is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the activities of Flexo graphic printing, slitting and other packaging converting operations in a labels manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, mentor, motivate and inspire direct reports to achieve an optimum level of performance by consistently demonstrating role model behavior.
  • Plan and direct Flexo graphic printing, slitting and other packaging converting operations in a labels manufacturing facility.
  • Coordinate production activities with warehouse, procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Conduct Daily Production meetings.
  • Review and analyze quality, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or printing production problems.
  • Compiles distributes, evaluates, and actions of printing production metrics.
  • Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve quality of printed product.
  • Identify and develop continuous improvements to printing processes with the supervisors.
  • Ensures process corrective actions are addressed in a timely manner and are effective, including conducting audits of effectiveness.
  • Ensure that supervisors are aware of and adhere to plant safety rules and regulations. Works with the supervisors to develop a safety culture with zero accidents/incidents.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a clean environment that enhances plant safety.
  • Ensure that employees know and understand customer and quality requirements and standards.
  • Set the quality direction to maintain production throughput while meeting/ exceeding quality requirements.
  • Maintain employee awareness and adherence to ISO standards and procedures.
  • Lead successful output of site production operations and achievement of operational goals.
  • Set goals for employees throughout and/or department standards.
  • Evaluate and provide training as needed, setting in place a long-term training strategy.
  • Evaluate equipment needs and propose changes to meet site objectives.
  • Assign employees to work schedules, and work centers, and plan appropriate levels based on production needs and capacity.
  • Troubleshoot processes and/or procedures.
  • Review site operations goals with department employees.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports in a timely manner. Recommend increases in compensation in accordance with pre-determined guidelines.
  • Ensures that all aspects of the Quality Policy and Objectives, as well as OSHA rules and regulations, are understood and enacted.
  • Participate in and satisfactorily complete all required training programs for the assigned position.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management representatives within the scope of responsibility and the requirements of the job.
Qualifications
  • Prior Printing, Labels, Packaging experience is required.
  • Bachelor degree with 7 years of related work experience
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills are required as well as personal computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Mail, Word, PowerPoint and the use of Internet Explorer.
  • Flexo graphic printing experience required
  • Knowledge of labels, packaging and printing industry required

Additional Information

RRD's current salary range for this role is $87,200 to $139,600 year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location.

Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
