Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is between $32.00 - $46.00 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Job Purpose

The Field Service Technician III as a key member of our field service team is responsible for assisting in the assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of transformers and other related equipment. Maintaining safety is the top priority. This role requires assistance with training and mentoring less experienced technicians.

This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. Occasionally work is performed near moving mechanical parts, at heights, hazardous places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature extremes, fumes, traffic, potential electrical shock hazards, noise pollution, and vibration.

  • Leader in Safety Culture.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety training programs and meetings.
  • Perform basic testing as a crew lead on transformer installation, maintenance and emergency work.
  • Ability to install, test and maintain electrical apparatus including transformer theory of operation knowledge.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, problem solving during inspections and apparatus testing.
  • Understand the theory behind and reason for testing with the ability to analyze results.
  • Creating plans for testing apparatus.
  • Thorough knowledge as a practical operator of the oil vacuum processing rig and top off transformers.
  • Administrative duties as assigned (inspections, job brief, and work order system).
  • Clear communication internal and external.
  • Calisto and other monitoring installations & commissioning.
Required
  • Must have 5 or more years of industry experience.
  • High School diploma or GED. Supplemental courses in electrical maintenance are desired.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license, and be able to maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to pass a fit for duty exam.
  • Must be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights.
  • Able and willing to travel up to 75% as needed.
Preferred
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • NCCO Crane Certification
  • Some knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of mechanical preferred.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions required in working in a power distribution facility preferred.
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret electrical diagrams and prints.
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret a variety of power generation and distribution metering and recording devices.
  • Ability to learn the practices and procedures of the industry.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
