Job SummaryThe Site Manager is accountable for comprehensive project oversight, ensuring construction activities align with strategic objectives and contractual requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining strict adherence to timelines, orchestrating on‑site operations, mitigating scheduling risks, controlling project costs, and reporting status. The role reports to the Field Operations Manager and requires on‑site presence Monday through Friday, 8:00‑5:00 AM or 9:00‑6:00 PM local time, with up to 100% travel.
EssentialJob Functions & Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct daily construction operations on‑site, ensuring strategic sequencing, meticulous planning, and adept execution aligned with the project timeline and financial objectives.
- Manage all stages of construction projects ranging from tens to hundreds of millions of dollars.
- Develop and review project schedules, cost estimates, bills of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards, and supplier quotes.
- Supervise project implementation to ensure cost, time, quality, and execution guidelines are met according to schedule.
- Develop work breakdown structures and manage all parties involved, ensuring professional project management from system design through construction.
- Represent the project to external parties such as investors, public authorities, grid operators, and others.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and results.
- Provide cost estimation, identify and project costs related to time, materials, and labor, track actual costs, and assess cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare cost‑reporting documents showing estimated costs, revenues, and timeline.
- Address on‑site challenges during construction, guaranteeing safe progression and providing explicit directives to crew and subcontractors.
- Coordinate closely with the Director of Projects to confirm engineering, procurement, submissions, and work plans are well established.
- Manage the construction planning process, facilitate subcontractor hiring, and interface with engineers and vendors, negotiating contracts skilfully.
- Administer subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to subcontract agreements.
- Communicate project details relating to on‑site activities to the Director of Projects, clients, and stakeholders, including landowners.
- Establish the initial site layout and infrastructural services, ensuring water, power, internet, office trailers, and other facilities.
- Ensure suitable staffing levels for daily construction tasks, coordinating employees, temporary agencies, and subcontractors.
- Synchronize daily activities across construction disciplines to avoid scheduling discrepancies.
- Detect impending schedule or workflow changes proactively.
- Monitor work progression, productivity, and fiscal performance of each installation activity.
- Implement proactive measures to anticipate changes and risks related to schedules and budgets.
- Oversee a robust quality control program to meet established plans.
- Supply necessary documentation, schematics, and materials to EHSQ for EMS oversight and upkeep.
- Ensure field staff meet training and certification requirements for EMS standards.
- Coordinate employee leave scheduling for continuous coverage.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the construction team and on‑site client representatives.
- Coordinate external communications, articulating project updates, milestones, and adjustments to stakeholders, media, and the public, safeguarding sensitive information.
