Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)

We are currently seeking a full‑time Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in Ankeny, Iowa. To qualify, candidates must have or be eligible for an Iowa CTRS license. This role delivers recreation therapy within a transdisciplinary team serving individuals with brain injuries and neurological conditions.

• Schedule:
  
  Monday‑Friday (rotating weekends & holidays)
• Hours:
  
  8:00‑4:30 PM (may also require rotating evenings)
• Location:
  
  Ankeny, Iowa

• Assess individual leisure and recreational interests for persons served.
• Develop and implement individualized and group recreation therapy interventions.
• Facilitate activities within the facility and in the community.
• Coordinate evening/weekend programs and special events.
• Complete documentation including assessments, goals, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Collaborate closely with the transdisciplinary rehabilitation team to support holistic recovery.

• Ability to maintain CPR certification (training provided if needed)
• Activity Chauffeur’s license or ability to obtain (financial assistance provided)
• Must be available for rotating holiday shifts & every 3rd weekend shifts (unless weekend‑only)

• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) in Iowa
• Experience in Recreation Therapy
• Experience working with individuals with brain injuries or neurological conditions
• Strong communication, documentation, and educational skills
