Day Camp Director – Ann Arbor

Position Summary
By serving as the Day Camp Director, you will lead a team to deliver engaging 8‑week experiences that enrich the lives of local Girl Scouts in the greater Kalamazoo community. You will design and coordinate lesson plans, ensure daily safety, and model positive leadership while interacting with young people outdoors.

Essential Job Functions
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate camp programs that meet the program requirements set by Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan and adhere to safety check points.
  • Plan daily and weekly activities to meet campers’ educational and recreational needs.
  • Assess program quality, safety, and enjoyment for campers and staff.
  • Implement crisis and risk‑management procedures.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the Assistant Camp Director and other staff to reach program goals.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety for all activities.
  • Provide daily care for each camper, including recognition of personal health needs and medication administration.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal staff alongside Program Manager.
  • Manage budget and ensure facility operations are safe and compliant with state, federal, and GSHOM requirements.
  • Communicate with parents and coordinate field‑trip logistics for safe travel.
  • Continue program improvement by collecting feedback, monitoring staff performance, and collaborating with other departments.

Job Duties
  • Supervise campers during transportation to and from camp or scheduled field trips.
  • Facilitate daily activities as needed.
  • Contribute verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested.
Equipment Used

Staff must be able to learn and use the equipment required during day‑camp operations, such as stove, oven, sling shot, and other program‑necessary items.

Qualifications
  • 21 years of age or older
  • First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain
  • Health history record submitted prior to first day of work
  • Ability to interact with all age levels
  • Pass State and National background check
Physical Requirements

Must actively participate in program needs, stay outside with girls, navigate varied terrains for extended periods, remain aware of surroundings, and lift 50 lbs.

Compensation

Wages starting at $20 per hour.

Ann Arbor Regional Center Day Camp:
June 1 – August 14 2026.
