The Apprenticeship Coordinator will support the planning, administration, coordination, and execution of the college’s Apprenticeship Strategy for local businesses. The position assures that pre‑apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs meet the necessary standards for recognition and registration with the U.S. Department of Labor and other entities, as required.
Essential Duties- Coordinate pre‑apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs in response to industry needs.
- Collaborate with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship, State of Michigan entities, and local partners to register programs and maintain required documentation.
- Build and maintain relationships with local & regional employers through outreach, engagement, and record‑keeping.
- Recruit and promote apprenticeship programs at schools, community agencies, and events.
- Research, propose, and support strategies to increase inclusion and retention of historically excluded communities in apprenticeship programs.
- Cooperate with academic staff to align apprenticeship requirements with college programs and scheduling.
- Prepare detailed reports, grant documentation, and monitoring materials for state, federal, and grant reviews.
- Provide coaching and support to apprentices to ensure completion of training.
- Coordinate apprenticeship-related events and manage logistics, registration, and follow‑up.
- Deliver quality customer service to internal and external constituents.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience supporting higher‑education or workforce‑development programs.
- Basic knowledge of pre‑apprenticeships and apprenticeships.
- Experience organizing data, maintaining files, and preparing reports.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, SharePoint; experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce is highly preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in apprenticeship or workforce‑development program design and implementation.
- Knowledge of U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship standards and registration processes.
- Experience with student records management systems.
Full‑time, 40 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends based on business needs. This is a grant‑funded position and will not be continued beyond the life of the funding.
