We are seeking an experienced Battery Pack Design Engineer to join our electric vehicle development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing lithium‑ion battery pack systems for electric vehicles, ensuring compliance with AIS 156 standards and automotive safety regulations while delivering superior thermal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complete battery pack systems for electric vehicles including mechanical structure, thermal management, and electrical integration.
  • Ensure full compliance with AIS 156 (Automotive Industry Standard for Electric Vehicle Battery Systems) and other relevant Indian and international standards.
  • Select and evaluate lithium‑ion cell technologies based on performance requirements, safety criteria, and cost considerations.
  • Design thermal management systems including liquid cooling, air cooling, and phase change materials for optimal battery temperature control.
  • Develop battery pack mechanical structures considering crash safety, vibration resistance, and environmental protection (IP ratings).
  • Create/support detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings for battery pack components and assemblies.
  • Perform thermal analysis and simulation to optimize cooling strategies and prevent thermal runaway conditions.
  • Design battery management system (BMS) integration and high‑voltage electrical architecture.
  • Conduct design validation testing including thermal testing, mechanical testing, and electrical performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with cell suppliers, thermal management vendors, and manufacturing partners.
  • Support battery pack testing and validation programs including abuse testing per AIS 156 Requirements.
  • Lead design reviews and participate in DFMEA activities specific to battery pack safety.
  • Optimize battery pack design for manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability.
  • Develop cost‑effective solutions while maintaining safety and performance standards.
  • Requirements
    • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
    • 2+ years of experience in battery pack design for automotive or energy storage applications.
    • In‑depth knowledge of AIS 156 standards and compliance requirements for EV battery systems.
    • Strong understanding of lithium‑ion cell technologies, characteristics, aging mechanisms, thermal behavior and selection criteria.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of thermal management principles and heat transfer mechanisms.
    • Knowledge of battery management systems (BMS) and high‑voltage electrical systems.
    • Knowledge of relevant engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
    • Experience with battery cell testing, characterization and familiarity with battery testing protocols.
    • Familiarity with battery pack manufacturing processes and automation.
    • Knowledge of materials science related to battery components and thermal interface materials.
    • Self‑motivated and eager to take initiative.

The three Co‑Founders have done their Masters in Automotive Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, and have worked for various Automotive companies in India and the USA and are now determined to create something exciting in the EV space.
