Position: Staff Structural Nuclear Engineer

Black & Veatch seeks a Staff Structural Nuclear Engineer to join our team and apply advanced structural engineering knowledge to nuclear power plant projects. This role blends technical expertise with practical problem‑solving to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Continue developing knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies; offer technical guidance to project teams.
  • Independently apply knowledge, comply with the B&V quality program, support continuous improvement and change management, and guide others.
  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables for large or multiple projects, perform advanced research, develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection, conduct complex engineering calculations, and manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Actively coordinate with all internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.
  • Assist in identifying key client interests and drivers on low to moderately complex projects; communicate these to the project team and develop approaches to accommodate client concerns.
  • Recognized as a technical specialist; provide consultation and guidance in a specific practice area; design complete projects of moderately complex scope or support multiple complex technical projects; foster knowledge management and provide mentoring.
  • Assist with performance management processes, mentoring, recognition, and corrective actions; participate in career planning and learning and development.
  • Assume responsibility for engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline (if applicable).
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective implementation and communication of policies, procedures and processes for the work group.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate and division programs.
  • Approve timesheets and expense reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant steel and reinforced concrete design at nuclear power plants.
  • Experience writing technical and/or construction specifications.
  • Experience writing scope of work documents.
  • Experience with nuclear document design verification.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program in the applicant’s home country or the country of practice, and a minimum of 5 years related work experience. All candidates must complete pre‑employment onboarding, including background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search, as applicable.

Certifications

Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion and job performance. Opportunity may be located in any U.S. office; relocation eligible for some positions.
