The OpportunityBlack & Veatch is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in Power System Studies, particularly in Extra High Voltage (EHV) systems operating at 345kV and above. This leadership role involves growing, guiding, and mentoring a team of engineers in the development of advanced analytical models and conducting complex studies for utility transmission systems.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Function as a technical specialist encompassing EHV transmission level voltage classes.
- Make EHV engineering calculation recommendations to influence risk mitigation through project execution plans.
- Communicate EHV engineering calculation capabilities to internal and external clients to support project capture and development.
- Under general direction, apply advanced engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches to develop, maintain, and update EHV engineering standards.
- Provide technical leadership and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and standards.
- Independently apply knowledge and follow Black & Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks.
- Consistently review and verify the accuracy of both personal work and that of team members, promoting Black & Veatch’s QA/QC standards and continuous improvement.
- Effectively communicate client goals and priorities to project teams, developing strategies to integrate these drivers into complex project execution.
- Engage directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
- Demonstrate strong leadership by mentoring team members and offering technical direction across disciplines.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and the ability to lead project efforts, including schedule, budget, and resource management.
- Actively coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage and deliver complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience supporting proposal development including scope of work, level of work, engineering estimates, and schedules.
- Manage or contribute to multiple high‑impact projects simultaneously.
- Develop clear, concise written communications and facilitate effective collaboration with team members and clients.
- Work in a team environment.
- Utilize knowledge in NERC reliability regions such as PJM, ERCOT, and MISO.
