Bridge Inspection Engineer – HDR
Join our Bridge Group in Michigan from the Ann Arbor or East Lansing offices. As a Bridge Inspection Engineer, you will perform National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) inspections, write field inspection reports, conduct basic mathematical calculations, and supervise an inspection team while supporting Project Managers in planning inspection activities.
Responsibilities- Conduct bridge inspections at ground level, on hydraulic equipment, ladders, or using assisted‑climbing techniques.
- Supervise the bridge inspection team and provide support to Project Managers.
- Support bridge and transportation assignments such as design and load rating.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in bridge design.
- Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng).
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB‑Multi Pier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP
2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, sp Column, STLBridge
LRFD, or STLBridge. - Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley Open Bridge Designer and Open Bridge Modeler, and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Micro Station, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, Prestress Concrete Design.
- Experience with structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
- Experience managing junior staff.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
