Overview

May Mobility is transforming cities through autonomous technology to create a safer, greener, more accessible world. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, May develops and deploys autonomous vehicles (AVs) powered by our Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology that reimagines the way AVs think. Our vehicles provide value to communities, bridge public transit gaps, and move people safely and enjoyably. We are building the world’s best autonomy system to reimagine transit by minimizing congestion, expanding access, and fostering green, vibrant, and livable spaces.

Since 2017, we have provided autonomy-enabled rides globally and are continuing to grow.

Job Summary

The Autonomy Release & Lifecycle Management department deploys autonomy software to the May fleet, sets up and supports site launches, and supports core autonomy teams in development through issue triage and simulation support. This Manager, Autonomy Technical Release leads the growth, development, and release strategy for May Mobility’s autonomy on-vehicle stack. Components include core autonomy (behavior, perception, controls, systems), ADK hardware (Autonomy Driving Kit) firmware, embedded systems, configuration and branch management, data support, cloud connections, and more.

The role defines how May deploys software to the fleet and shapes scale for software deployment, aligning with other departments to develop a holistic growth strategy. As a leader, you will model initiative, data-driven decision making, design, and troubleshooting. You will own release deployment decisions and evaluation to ensure safe, reliable, high-quality, and fast releases. You will collaborate cross-functionally with safety, test & validation, autonomy integrity and validation, product, operations, and business development to meet customer expectations.

  • Troubleshoot and support solutions to challenging field issues.
  • Collaborate and lead system-wide improvements with other teams; mobilize cross-departmental support to meet scalable quality and deployment goals.
  • Assess and develop approaches to improve performance and evaluation in software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
  • Assess and improve system robustness against stochastic and transient issues affecting autonomous vehicle performance.
  • Be a technical thought leader championing May Mobility’s mission, values, and priorities.
  • Set and manage release metrics and KPIs alongside company OKRs (release performance, velocity, and rollout to sites, including third-party operations and global deployments).
  • Provide strategy and execution to remove blockers for fast, reliable, and high-quality autonomy releases, including scaling deployments to thousands of vehicles per site.
  • Escalate critical issues and opportunities to engineering leadership with clear recommendations to maximize team and release effectiveness.
