We are seeking a Power Engineer in Training (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical EIT) to join our Michigan-based Power Generation team. This team provides engineering consulting services across the utility, independent power producer, industrial, institutional, and municipal sectors.
The role involves supporting engineering and construction projects at power generation, cogeneration, and district heating and cooling facilities. Projects include power generation, renewables such as solar, wind, and battery storage, water treatment, air quality control, and plant improvements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing engineering calculations and code reviews
- Sizing and selecting materials and equipment
- Participating in site visits and surveys
- Developing piping & instrument drawings
- Developing equipment and piping arrangement drawings
- Developing water mass balances
- Reviewing manufacturers' drawings and submittals
- Developing procurement and construction specifications
- Performing bid evaluations
- Evaluating existing systems and equipment
- Technical/report writing
- Participating in team meetings and communicating with vendors
- Processing engineering submittals
- Developing thermal cycles/heat balances
- Preparing equipment layouts
- Conducting feasibility studies and lifecycle analyses
- Assessing technology options and supporting project estimates and schedules
- Travel may be required
Qualifications include:
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate preferred; candidates without EIT will be placed in a Design Coordinator role with a path to obtain it
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
